Census figures for 2000 and 2010 did not include the number of households using septic systems. However, as of 1990, nearly 50 percent of North Carolinians used septic tank systems. The map below illustrates the boundaries of the 17 watersheds in NC. Click on any watershed to see the density of onsite systems or view system statistics by county as of 1990.
